Canada scrapping the penny.
I’ve been reading John Green’s Tumblr post about Canada scrapping production of the one cent coin.
It made me think about whether or not the situation was similar in the UK. Does it cost more to produce pennies & two penny pieces than their face value? I know personally I would like it very much if the government were to scrap both the copper coins & round prices up/down to...

Payday - Remington Multistyler
I’ve been getting a little fed up of ferrying my trusty GHD’s back & forward from Annexe to Lair so I decided to buy myself a new styler to keep at one location & leave the GHD’s at the other.
I found the Remington Multistyler on sale in Boots so I thought I’d give it a try.
The video on the company YouTube account makes using it look so easy!
I tried it as a...

This film is an instant favourite with me. It’s cast are highly acclaimed thespians such as Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilton, Celia Imrie & more including Dev Patel who is rather well known from his performances in Skins & Slumdog Millionaire.
Dev Patel plays Sonny an idealistic young man in Jaipur, India trying to keep...

Places to visit - The Phoenix Cinema
Last week Tris & I visited The Phoenix Cinema a fantastic old cinema not far from The Lair.
The cinema building dates back to 1910 & has a much nicer atmosphere than the multiscreen down the road. It is run by a charitable trust as a community cinema showcasing both mainstream movies such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which we saw here (review of this tomorrow) to smaller special...

A lovely customer's blog! →
I had a very sweet lady in the shop a few days ago. We got chatting whilst at the till & she mentioned she has a blog too. After a few minutes of conversation we swapped blog addresses & off she went.
I popped her card into my apron for safe keeping so I could have a read later on. Unfortunately I neglected to empty my apron pocket before I washed it so the card was mulched in the washing...

"Domestic Goddessing"
So today is my day off but far from my original plan of lounging in bed until 11:00 with my laptop, toast & coffee I find that I awoke feeling wonderfully energised. Due to this I am spending a portion of my day doing what I like to call “Domestic Goddessing”. My personal definition of being a Domestic Goddess is to get the household chores done in good time, tasty meals on the...
