Birthday Cocktail Look as seen here

Cosmetics:

On my nails I used all Nails Inc products Hyde Park Base Coat, the colour was one coat of Hoxton Square followed by one coat of Eaton Mews (neither are currently on Nails Inc site & finished with Albert Bridge Top Coat.

I was at the start of the evening also wearing Illamasqua Growl lipstick applied with a brush in three coats & blotted but it didn’t survive the tapas & cocktails. It would have lasted better if I had slicked it straight on from the bullet & worn it thicker as it lasted ages the first time I wore it!

For my fragrance I chose Penhaligon’s LP No. 9 which I adore as the scent sticks really well on my skin.

Clothes:

  • Lace Dress with tutu skirt from ASOS Curve
  • Black tights - my favourite are City Queen which I buy for around £4 per pair on eBay as I’ve found no english brands that fit my frame. I am unusual in that whilst I am plus sized I am also tall so clothes need good stretch in both directions!
  • Black snakeskin platform stiletto shoes from Evans A/W 2012 range - no longer on sale

Accessories:

  • Silver sleeper hoop earrings - Bought several years ago from H Samuel
  • Silver locket - Birthday gift from 16 years ago!
  • Purple Sapphire & Platinum Engagement ring - Special commission by Tris from Hatton Garden

Today is National Bubble Bath Day!

This pleases me greatly as I adore bubble baths! Here are my picks for the best bubbles to put in your bath tonight or in fact any night:

Yuzu & Cocoa Bubbleroon £2.95 from Lush is a fruity little bubble bar that reminds me of sunshine holidays!

Energy Bubbles £11.50 from Rituals is a comforting rose scented bottle of bubbles that is perfect for a soak after a busy day.

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Honey Bath £31 available from Space NK is like bathing in a bath of warm melting honey. Blissful for warming you through after you’ve been out in the cold!

Enjoy your bubble baths!

Changes

Recently I’ve been rather quiet on here. The reason being that I have been job hunting. I decided it was time for me to stop running up & down the country as it was stopping me from having much of a life so I finished working for Lush a few weeks ago.

I’ve had a number of promising leads & a series of tough interviews. So far I’m not having a huge amount of luck but it’s all practice & good experience. I’ve been putting all my energy into the job searching so I have not had so much time to write for the site.

Today, tomorrow & over the weekend however I’m having a break. Tris has taken the day off work today & has planned some sort of lovely romantic day for us which I am looking forward to immensely. Tomorrow I will have a long lie in & hopefully get some more reading & writing done. Saturday is girly day with Pippa.

Right, I’m off for now as Tris has just brought me toasted brioche & coffee in bed! Nom!

Non-edible Ladies’ Halloween Treats to buy

Halloween can be a nightmare if you are trying to watch your figure. Here are some ideas for treats of the non edible variety for girls.

Victoria polish by Nails Inc. This fabulous colour is just the right shade of red for making it look like you have wet blood on your talons. I rarely wear anything but Nails Inc. as I find that with their top & base coats my nail colour can go up to a week (sometimes more) without chipping even when I’m doing a lot of stuff with my hands like baking/cleaning/handwashing. Other good Halloween colours are Black Taxi (Glossy Black), The Thames (Smoke Grey) & Porchester Place (Pumpkin Orange).

Miniature Harry Potter & Twilight Book pendants by Dragon Dreads. These are just super cute & the website has many other options for pretties if these tiny tomes are not your thing.

Lush Seasonal bath & shower goodies. As always Lush brings us some brilliant, ethical bubbles, ballistics & jellies for the spooky season. Some products are online exclusives though so you won’t be able to get them in your local store so check before you make your visit!

Buy a spooky book to read. Something like Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë or Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. If you don’t want to buy an actual book then download it to your ebook reader a number of classics are available for free in the Amazon Kindle Store
