This is a beautiful drink. When you first sip it you get all the warmth & spice of the ginger followed by a very subtle, delicate rose aftertaste that lingers & grows stronger as the tea cools.
Teasday - Mum says you can’t have a cuppa without a biscuit! Here’s my Mummy with her giant Custard Cream when we stopped off at Costa for a break whilst shopping.
So! After much pestering & way too much time since the last visit there, Pip has FINALLY finished her Bubbleology review. That’s right. I think the end of the world might be nigh. Anyway, on to the review!
This time I decided to go for a blend of passionfruit and kumquat for my bubble tea, which had the usual tapioca in the bottom for the ‘bubble’ effect. Flavour wise, this one was sweet and refreshing, and a very natural passionfruit kind of taste. There was nothing too synthetic tasting in there which I enjoyed.
I also had the chance to sample some popping boba which I will be adding to my drink next time I go! It’s similar to the tapioca but it pops and has an intense flavour inside. It was particularly exciting to try these as they gave a completely different edge to the drinks themselves and were a lovely fun twist.
All in all, I most definitely will be returning, perhaps next time for a passionfruit and kumquat with popping boba instead! Yum!
Next time from Pip: Still clinging on to the last dregs (appropriate tea joke?) of summer with ‘Summertime’ from Ingrids Teeladen (Small independent German brand)!
Last week I met Tris for lunch one afternoon. After he went back to work I had a wander along The Strand & popped into the branch of Whittard there.
The store was quiet so I had a peaceful look around after being greeted by the nice ladies behind the counter & eventually settled on trying their current Coffee of the Month which is the Mexican Chiapas Finca Muxbal. This seems very appropriate to me as around the same time as we celebrate Halloween there is the Dia de los Muertos Festival in Mexico & at the moment I’m all about that kind of thing.
This coffee smells sensational! From the moment I smelled it being ground in the store I couldn’t wait to try it. I adore it this coffee. It has a lovely deep flavour without an overly bitter roast that most coffees seem to have. It is such a pleasing, mellow taste that I can happily drink this black without sugar! It is a little pricey but well worth it.
Pumpkin Spiced Latte: This is a fabulous cold weather morning drink. Strong coffee with a rich spiced pumpkin flavour finished with a sugary kiss from the syrup. Another success for the seasonals. I shall be sad when this limited edition leaves us.
