Tris & I have chosen a wedding date 6th September 2014. With that in mind we are both cracking down on our unhealthy eating habits & trying to get fitter.
We had good success previously with the sticking to a calorie limit on weekdays & allowing moderate treats at the weekend so we’re going to do this again. I’m also joining a local gym which I’m looking forward to as I love swimming & there are some great classes that will keep the routine fresher than me trying to just do fitness DVDs at home.
So over the past couple of decades like a lot of people out there I have been dieting on & off. Sometimes successfully & sometimes not.
In the past I have been dieting because other people have pressured me to but this time I am doing it because I want to. I want to be healthier rather than thinner (although that will be a pleasant side effect) & it is fortunate that Tris also wants to do the same.
One of the issues I have found in the past is that constantly denying myself things I would like to eat leads me to eventually rebel & binge. Rather than find myself in this position again I have decided to watch my food intake very carefully the majority of the week & allow myself to eat a moderate portion of the foods I avoid the rest of the week for one breakfast, one lunch & two dinners (usually over the weekend).
There will be a mixture of diet friendly & more indulgent recipes popping up from now on as I try new things. Please let me know how you get on if you give them a try.
Ok so today’s brew is not a brand of tea review but rather a suggested method.
To make yourself a beautiful, clean tasting fresh mint infusion that will settle an upset/bloated stomach or simply warm you through late at night when you fancy a cuppa but need to avoid caffeine.
Pluck 15-20 leaves from your mint plant (or buy a bunch of fresh mint) & put into a glass/mug. Pour over hot water & leave to steep until cool enough to drink. If you prefer not to have the leaves sitting in your cup you can use a whole stem of mint including the leaves. This is easy to pull back out of the water before drinking.
This is a palate cleansing, soft, fragrant infusion that I could drink gallons of!
