Having a lovely time with Tris’ family & in the end no trouble with the trains at all!
I hope you are all enjoying the gap between Christmas & New Year whether you are working or having a break. We’re having a lot of fun & I am tinkering with some new posts to come soon.
In the meantime brew yourself a cuppa & get ready for the next installment of The Chronicles of Professor Elemental released on New Year’s Eve by watching the teaser trailer here.
Assorted teacups filled with frozen summer berries & cava (or traditional lemonade for the non drinkers) for a toast
This lovely silver teapot was only a few pounds in a charity shop but unfortunately was so rusty inside that it was useless for tea. I think it looks smashing as a plant pot instead!
Utterly lovely cake pops made by Cuppie Cakes (a friend of my sister) as a gift for us. If you are near Loughton, Essex & need cake pops/cupcakes give them a tweet (be sure to tell them that you found them here)
Tris drinking from a proper vintage teacup that was borrowed from my Gran. It is a family heirloom passed down the family since 1890. We were very careful with those ones!

Obligatory close up of the rings. Tris’ band is made of black titanium edged in silver
Tris & I are so pleased to have had such a lovely afternoon. One celebration enjoyed & two more yet to come. Do pop back for pictures from those parties too!
Today is the first of our three Engagement Party gatherings.
Rather unfortunately I have woken up with a sore throat, croaky voice & congested head but I’m going to try not to let that spoil the day for me. I have asked my Dad to pick up some medicine & OJ on his way back from taking my Gran to church so I can keep going today & then tomorrow I’ll spend the day snuggled in bed.
The sky is gorgeous today. Fantastic, clear blue with bright winter sunshine & no clouds in sight. It is however pretty cold out so I shall need to wrap up warm when I head out to my Aunt’s shortly to get the decorations up & the sandwiches made.
I made the cupcakes yesterday & decorated a large sponge my Mum made whilst Tris & I were out so all in all there’s not too much left to do today. Thank goodness for forward planning & super helpful fiancé, parents & sister!
Tris & I wanted to celebrate our engagement with the people we care about before Christmas. We are having three celebrations to accommodate the large number of guests we want to share our happiness with.
We are planning all three celebrations to have a component of tea in them as we both love the stuff & our first date & engagement involved this wonderful drink.
Party One is a vintage style tea party at my aunt’s house. On Sunday Tris & I came up with the menu we thought would suit the occasion best. Yesterday I went through it with my Mum & Sister & we have made a plan for the week’s preparations. We will be making a lot of the treats ourselves along with most of the decorations. There are some things we will be buying as we simply don’t have the time with our other commitments this week to do it all.
For decorations I bought some rose scented tea lights & have started making some fabric flowers to add to the bunting garland that my sister is making. This afternoon I shall be sorting an outfit & making little flags on cocktail sticks to mark the sandwich fillings.
I’m getting very excited & I’m so thankful for the help & support my family are giving. (Dad is helping by making copious amounts of tea for us as we work & he will be ferrying the finished food & other stuff between The Annexe & my Aunt’s house.)
